This is progress. Here is our grocery haul from the newly dubbed “anxiety inducing organic shop” @terramadreorganics. I love this store, but I wasn’t surprised that 80% of you answered ‘yes’ to feeling overwhelmed at bulk food stores in general. I get overwhelmed too.
Sometimes bulk stores are inspiring, other times they make me feel like I’m not trying hard enough.
I’ve been trying harder to eat more vegetarian food. I can’t eat onion and often the only onion-free option is a meat dish. The rise of #fodmap diets has now allowed me to up my vegetarian game. I have also found a bunch of vegan dishes that are Zoe-friendly. Awww yiss. Mother Nature’s gonna be so proud of how far I’ve come.
Health-related dietary requirements suck. When I get a sad belly from onions, I eat light coloured food: potatoes, rice, white bread, tofu, chicken, lemons, oats, bananas and eggs. This time, I made a soothing chicken and potato roast with white rice. That dish is extremely effective at resetting my sad belly. One whole chook = three dishes for two people. I washed the plastic wrap and put it into our scarcely used soft plastics recycling bag. The rest went into compost.
Is this failure? Nope. This is progress. Incremental change has allowed us to improve exponentially. I know how far we’ve come. I understand how challenging it is. Your progress is perfection to me. 💚
